Larvicidal activity of granulated pharmaceutical products using Indonesian holy basil leaf extract

<em>Ocimum sanctum</em> Linn, known as holy basil, is a larvicide, which relatively safe compared to synthetic insecticides. This study investigates the larvicidal activity of granule formulation Indonesian basil leaf extract against third larval instar <em>Aedes aegypti</em>. The leaves was obtained by maceration process with 96% ethanol. formulated various concentrations extract, including F1 (2000 ppm), F2 (4000 and F3 (6000 ppm). contained terpenoid, alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, polyphenol compounds. granules had moisture content 3.01%, flowability 1.51 seconds, dispersion time 1.09 seconds. mortality rates mosquitos treated different groups were significantly from positive control values 25.33% (F1), 50.67% (F2), 90.67% (F3). In conclusion, granulated has LC<sub>50</sub> 4405.803 ppm LC<sub>90</sub> 6080.714 ppm. Therefore, pharmaceutical product derived could be developed potent larvicide dengue fever.
